scsi-raid-rebuild-lsi-megaraid

ALWAYS ensure that you have a full backup (OS, data, system state, MBR, etc.) (and a recovery method - e.g. bootable rescue/recovery cd)

Ctrl-M during the bios screen that prompts you to enter the lsi-megaraid-menu

Configure Logical Drive

View/Add

The still working drive should be DEGRADED A01-01

Space to select the new physical drive Enter to confirm selection

Set it as a Hotspare

escape key

wait about 2 minutes

go back to Configure -> View/Add

The still working drive should be ONLINE A01-01

You'll notice that the new hard drive now has status REBLD A01-02 -it took 4 to 5 hours for a Xeon 3GHz (single core?) 3GB RAM 146GB hard drive

After reboot I had to restore the MBR
